Claude Code skill

A free skill that turns a brief into a client deck, then makes it move.

Give Claude Code a one-paragraph brief. It does the research and the outline, builds a plain deck, adds pictures and charts, then makes a version where every click plays the next step.

Claude Code Made My Client Deck. Then I Made It Move.

What it does

  • Quick research and an outline, with a source next to every number
  • A plain PowerPoint, then a styled one in your colours
  • Real PowerPoint charts from a small spreadsheet (CSV)
  • Pictures from your own ChatGPT plan through Codex. No API key. No Codex? You get placeholders
  • A moving deck: each slide is a small web page that builds on click. It works offline in any browser, and your clicker works with it
  • Presenter view with your notes and a timer
  • A worked example with a made-up client you can open straight away

Set it up in three steps

  1. Download the zip and unzip it.
  2. Open Claude Code in that folder.
  3. Say: Read SETUP.md and set it up for me. It installs the skill and builds the example deck so you can see it work.

You need

  • A paid Claude plan (Pro or above) and Claude Code. Claude Code is in the Claude desktop app, in the Code tab.
  • Python 3.9 or newer. Claude checks this and installs the one small package it needs.
  • For pictures (optional): the Codex CLI signed in with a paid ChatGPT plan. No API key.

Get the pictures: connect Codex to Claude Code

Claude Code can't make pictures on its own. ChatGPT can. Most people don't know you can connect the two, so Claude hands the picture job to Codex and gets the file back.

The deck skill only needs steps 1 to 3, the Codex CLI. Step 4 is a bonus: OpenAI's plugin lets Claude Code hand any job to Codex, like pictures, code or a second opinion. No Codex at all? The deck still builds, with placeholders where the pictures go.

  1. Install Node.js (version 18 or newer) from nodejs.org.
  2. Install the Codex CLI in a terminal:
    npm install -g @openai/codex
  3. Sign in with your ChatGPT account. It uses your ChatGPT plan, so there's no API key.
    codex login
  4. Optional: in Claude Code, add OpenAI's Codex plugin. The last command checks Codex is installed and signed in, and offers to install it if it's missing.
    /plugin marketplace add openai/codex-plugin-cc
    /plugin install codex@openai-codex
    /reload-plugins
    /codex:setup
  5. Not sure? Paste https://github.com/openai/codex-plugin-cc into Claude Code and ask it to set it up for you.

Pictures need a paid ChatGPT plan, and each one uses some of its limit. I walk through the whole setup in this video:

Claude Code Can't Make Images. ChatGPT Can. Here's How to Connect Them

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The download is free and there's no email gate. You need a paid Claude plan to run Claude Code. Pictures use your own ChatGPT plan through Codex, so there's no API key and no bill per picture.

How do I make my own deck?

Make a new folder with a one-paragraph brief in a file called brief.md. Add a data.csv if you have numbers for charts. Open Claude Code there and say: Use the client-deck skill to make a proposal deck from brief.md.

What if I don't have Codex?

The decks still build. Each picture slot shows a neat placeholder, and you can drop your own photos into the assets folder and rebuild.

Can Claude Code really use ChatGPT?

Yes. Install the Codex CLI and sign in with your ChatGPT account, and Claude Code can ask Codex to make a picture and save the file. It runs on your ChatGPT plan, not an API key. The section above has the steps, and my video shows it end to end: https://youtu.be/rCu_q6jiejg

How do I present the moving deck?

Open moving/index.html in any browser. Click, press the right arrow or use your clicker to play the next step. F is full screen, B is a black screen, G shows all slides and P opens the presenter view with your notes and a timer. It works offline.

Prefer to do it by hand?

Install Python, then run pip install python-pptx. Copy the client-deck folder into your skills folder (on Windows it's C:\Users\you\.claude\skills, on a Mac it's ~/.claude/skills) and restart Claude Code. The last section of SETUP.md has the commands to build the example yourself.

Are the numbers in the example real?

No. Brightmill is a made-up company and its charts are example numbers. The skill labels made-up numbers as examples and puts a source next to every real one.
