Claude skill + PDF guide
A free skill that lets Claude Code talk to your Grok Bot.
Claude Code sends your Grok Bot a message. The bot does the work in its own chat and the reply comes back to Claude. Here's my setup, my skill and the five things that broke.

Watch how it works
What it does
- Claude Code sends a message to your Grok Bot and brings the reply back
- Works with Codex too, or any agent that can run a command
- Only the bot names you list are allowed, so a typo can't make a new bot
- Reads the second reply, the real results that land a minute later
- Safe on Windows: quotes in your message don't get stripped
- A PDF with the setup steps and the five fixes
Set it up in three steps
- Download the zip and unzip it.
- Open Claude Code (or Codex) in that folder and say: Read SETUP.md and set it up for me.
- Answer its questions (your bot names) and finish the Cursor sign-in in your browser. It sends a test message to show it works.
You need
- Grok Bot on your plan: The X Subscription Premium ($30/mo) and up, or a legacy Cursor Pro, Pro+ or Ultra plan. It signs in with your Cursor login and runs from your Grok Bot weekly allowance. No API key to buy.
- Node.js 22.13 or newer. Your agent checks this for you.
- Claude Code, Codex, or any other agent that can run a shell command.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The download is free and there's no email gate. You need Grok Bot on your plan. It runs from your Grok Bot weekly allowance, so there's no API key to buy.
Prefer to do it by hand?
Open the files with any text editor, like Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on a Mac, or VS Code. Type your bot names exactly as they show in the Grok Bot app, in grokbot-relay/bot/extensions/grokbot.ts and in ALLOWED at the top of grokbot-relay/scripts/read.mjs. In a terminal inside grokbot-relay, run npm install, then npx agent-sdk login. Copy the ask-grokbot folder into your skills folder (on Windows it's C:\Users\you\.claude\skills, on a Mac it's ~/.claude/skills), set RELAY in its SKILL.md to your relay folder, and restart Claude Code. The PDF has the same steps.
Does it work with Codex or other agents?
Yes. Anything that can run a shell command can use it. I tested Claude Code end to end. Codex reads the same SKILL.md, but approve running the relay outside its sandbox the first time, or it can't reach your Cursor login. The one command it needs is node scripts/ask.mjs "Bot 1" "your message".
What are the five fixes?
One, a misspelled bot name quietly makes a new empty bot, so check the name and keep an allowlist. Two, a busy bot ignores new messages, so wait and ask again. Three, replies come in two parts, so read the second one with the read script. Four, Windows strips the quote marks, so run it through Node, which the ask script does. Five, the login expires, so run npx agent-sdk login again.
Why is the Agent SDK version pinned?
Cursor removed the Grok Bot extension from the newest Agent SDK (0.2.29, 23 Oct 2026), and the starter template is gone too. Version 0.2.28 still works, so the relay pins it. Don't run agent-sdk update in the relay folder. It keeps working as long as Cursor keeps the Grok Bot service on.
Can Grok Bot run Claude Code the other way round?
Yes. Ask it to install Claude Code or Codex on its own computer and sign in with your own plans. For Codex, turn on device code sign-in in ChatGPT under Settings > Security and login first. Anthropic's docs allow signing in to the unmodified Claude Code with your own subscription, including on a hosted machine. Just don't let a bot keep your login to share with other people.
